Columbia, S.C.--Wamar International’s Board of Directors recently announced that Joseph (Joe) Konicki has been appointed as the CEO for Primesouth, LLC, a Wamar company. Konicki will also serve on Wamar’s Executive Board as Chief Technology Officer for Wamar’s global operations.
Konicki recently transitioned to the private sector from a distinguished twenty-six year executive career as a Navy Captain. His military accomplishments included: overseeing the construction, testing, and delivery of seven DDG-51 class Aegis guided missile destroyers; directing the operations and maintenance of all 110 surface ships of the Navy’s Atlantic fleet; and while working for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Iraq, he oversaw the completion of 49 major projects enhancing the Iraqi national electric grid including the construction and commissioning of two new power plants, an oil refinery, and overseeing operations and maintenance at the six largest Iraqi power plants. He also had previously been Deputy Director of the US Navy’s Electric Ships Office, which coordinated Navy research and development investments in advanced electrical technologies.
Wamar representatives said Konicki will provide a major step toward stabilizing Primesouth which has experienced a reduction in workload, layoffs, and several changes in leadership in recent years.
Konicki’s focus in his new role will include restoring Primesouth’s performance in US markets and pursuing emerging opportunities in international power generation projects.
